About

The novels that I write don’t fit into a single genre other than the broad one called Fiction. Each story has elements of drama, adventure, mystery, romance, and danger. I suppose that could be because they all have characters whose lives are intersected with others in varying degrees with these features.

Many people in this century deal with lives that are more complicated than in earlier decades. We need pursuits that ease stress, give a boost of enthusiasm for the little things that can so enrich everyday life, and remind us that we are supposed to enjoy life, not just live it on a sort of emotional autopilot. Books can fill that need to some degree. They aren’t--or certainly should not be--a substitute for going out and living but allowing yourself to mentally drop in on another time and setting, emotionally interact with other ‘people’ and live their fictional life with them, can be inspiring. It can spur our own imaginations, help us see ways we can expand our own private horizons and maybe, just maybe, tempt us to go out and create our own adventures.

Particularly, individuals young or old who are hampered by physical or emotional limits can keep their minds stimulated, their imaginations sparked, and even perhaps stir long-forgotten memories that make a day brighter--by reading a good story. These are the types of novels I strive to create; if you find that one of them hits a couple of these marks for you, then I consider that a success.

About those genres in literature that you see over there at the right: I find them overly constraining and little of what I write falls into any single genre. Maybe someone out there has a life that fits nicely into a single slot. Mine didn't and doesn't; therefore, I find writing to a single genre basically impossible. Our story as a human, the fabric of our lives,  invariably contains multiple threads. Being human means we have the potential to be, to do, and to think along limitless paths, so you will likely find that the books on this site reflect that philosophy.

The very clearly defined genres that I have no trouble identifying are the ones I neither read personally nor do I write: horror, supernatural, political exposes, and erotica for starters. I'm reasonably sure you get the picture.

I'd be interested to know what are your favorite genres; drop a note if you'd like to give an answer to that, comment otherwise, or make a suggestion.
